Rebuilding the City of Beauty – Lalitpur, Nepal

Patan Durbar Square in Lalitpur, Nepal, City of Beauty, is a royal palace complex built in the 17th century. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was severely damaged by the April 2015 Nepal earthquake, the worst natural disaster to strike the region since the Nepal-Bihar Earthquake in 1934. The surrounding temples and residences built by the Newa people display their unique architecture of brick work and intricate woodcarving. A year after the tragedy, the city was steadily rebounding from the devastating destruction.
