The Desert Botanical Garden

The Desert Botanical Garden, situated in Phoenix, Arizona, boasts more than just sand. Founded and established in 1939, the 140-acre garden teems with plants suited to desert environments and features broad collections of agave and cacti in particular. At least 130 of the plant species represented in the garden are threatened or endangered. The Desert Botanical Garden encourages a strong culture of volunteerism and relies on donations and support from the wider botanical community to maintain the grounds and their thorny inhabitants. The site is a deserving holder of the Phoenix Point of Pride designation.
