Clown Frogfish

Flic en Flac lies on the sheltered western coast of Mauritius, where a reef-protected lagoon gives way offshore to coral formations, rocky ridges, walls, caverns, and sandy channels. Its dive sites range from shallow reefs suitable for newer divers to deeper formations such as Rempart Serpent and the Cathedral. The Cathedral is distinguished by massive volcanic boulders, steep drop-offs, arches, and cavern-like spaces inhabited by reef fishes, moray eels, lionfish, and lobsters. These underwater landscapes form part of the extensive fringing-reef system surrounding Mauritius, which protects much of the island’s coastline while supporting diverse marine habitats.

Fun Fact: At the Cathedral, divers can enter beneath a large rock overhang and look upward through a chimney-like opening where sunlight filters into the cavern.
