California Sea Lions

Land’s End lies at the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula, where the Gulf of California meets the Pacific Ocean beneath Cabo San Lucas’s granite headlands and distinctive sea arch. Diving takes place within the Cabo San Lucas Flora and Fauna Protection Area, with rocky walls, pinnacles, sand channels, and small underwater passages supporting schooling fish, rays, moray eels, and California sea lions (Zalophus californianus). The meeting of different water masses can produce changing visibility, temperature, surge, and currents, while also attracting seasonally abundant pelagic life. Several dive sites—including Neptune’s Finger, the Point, and the sea-lion colony—are clustered around the headland within a short boat ride of the marina.

Fun Fact: Nearby Sand Falls features streams of sand sliding continuously over a submarine canyon wall, creating the appearance of an underwater waterfall.
