Nurse Shark

Little Corn Island lies in the Caribbean Sea off Nicaragua’s eastern coast, surrounded by shallow coral reefs, sandy channels, rocky formations, and deeper offshore sites. More than 20 dive sites are located around the island, many within a short boat ride, with generally mild currents and typical depths of about 40–50 feet (12–15 meters). Divers may encounter nurse sharks, southern stingrays, spotted eagle rays, sea turtles, barracudas, lobsters, nudibranchs, and schools of Caribbean reef fish. The island’s small scale and limited coastal development contribute to its distinctive diving environment, while its English-speaking Creole culture reflects the Corn Islands’ long Afro-Caribbean history and earlier British influence.

Fun Fact: Little Corn Island has no cars or motorized road traffic; divers and equipment move around the island primarily on foot or by boat.
