Holy Trinity, Addis Ababa

Known in Amharic as “Kidist Selassie,” the Holy Trinity Cathedral is the highest-ranking Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo cathedral in the capital city of Addis Ababa. Housing the tombs of (among others) the Imperial Family, the cathedral takes its rightful place as one of the most important places of worship in Ethiopia, with only Axum’s Church of Our Lady Mary of Zion surpassing it. The cathedral bears all the hallmarks of classic church architecture and the surrounding grounds serve as a final resting place and commemoration for those who fought against the Italian Occupation.
