The Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum offers a blend of art, architecture and nature in Bratislava. It is situated on the banks of the Danube River, the second-longest river in Europe. The museum, intended to promote the work of Central European Artists, is one of the newest modern art museums in the region. It hosts a number of contemporary art pieces and includes an outdoor sculpture park. The museum’s architect, Peter Žalman, took into account the site’s location as part of the northern border of the Roman Empire and used the form of a Roman galley to create a building blending history and modernism.
